Pure Pinyin is thoughtfully crafted for those engaged in service to Jehovah within the Chinese-speaking community, as referenced in Acts 16:9,10. In my experience preparing talks, studies, or other materials in Chinese, the ability to write Pinyin with accurate tone marks and convert Chinese text into Pinyin has proven to be invaluable. This application aims to enhance your productivity in similar tasks.

KEYBOARD

The app includes a keyboard that accurately types Pinyin with properly positioned tone marks across any application. It offers suggestions to streamline the writing process, and it intelligently remembers frequently used terms, providing relevant prompts. To activate the keyboard, navigate to the settings app, followed by General -> Keyboard -> Keyboards -> Add New Keyboard. Select Pure Pinyin to enable the option for writing Pinyin seamlessly.

Once activated, you can switch to the Pinyin keyboard by tapping the globe icon on your standard keyboard and selecting “Pīnyīn - Pure Pinyin.” As you type, simply select your desired tone, which will automatically be applied to the preceding syllable over the appropriate vowel. Should you wish to alter the tone, selecting another option will override the previous choice.

As you input text, suggestions will appear adjacent to the tone keys for easy access. If available suggestions exceed screen space, you can scroll horizontally to view additional options. Furthermore, if a "v" is required, holding down the "ü" key briefly will generate a "v" instead.

CONVERTER

This feature enables offline conversion from Hanzi to Pinyin, eliminating reliance on online tools. To utilize this function, either paste or input Chinese Hanzi into the upper text box. By selecting 'Pinyin,' a clear version appears in the lower text box. The '2-lines' option converts text into HTML code that displays Chinese characters above which the Pinyin pronunciation is rendered; however, this effect is visible only within an HTML document and can be beneficial when creating websites. A simple tap on 'Copy' allows for quick copying of generated text to your clipboard.
